The Oxford Housing Authority was organized in the late 1960s with the construction of the first multi-family housing complex in Oxford. The Authority has grown from those original 100 units to 312 units of rental housing scattered over 5 sites throughout the City. As of February 28, 2017, we will have four complexes totaling 212 units because Riverside Place will be closing.

As the City’s slogan states, Oxford really is A Nice Place to Live. Oxford is home to the University of Mississippi, which allows our citizens access to many cultural and educational opportunities.
The City’s school system is among the very best in the State of Mississippi with a Level 5 rating. The Oxford School District was recognized as the number one public school district in the State of Mississippi in 2016.
The unemployment rate in Lafayette County has been the lowest in the State for many years. Having been named by numerous magazines and surveys as one of the top retirement sites in the nation, Oxford has many amenities, organizations and opportunities that enrich the lives of its residents.
